The Rakičan Castle

You can find castles related to the Batthyány family even in Slovenia. The castle that is located in the valley of the River Mura originally belonged to the Széchy family. Later the Poppel family owned it. The castle became the possession of the Batthyány family via Éva Poppel (Mrs Ferenc Batthyány). The castle burt down in 1645, and craftsmen from Radkersburg built it up again, that's when it got its present appearance. Somewhat it has been renovated, and the reconstruction of one of the parts has already started, an educational centre can be found here.
