Cycling connection will be established on the Slovenian-Hungarian border

The foundation-stone of the cycling route between Lendvadedes-Dedeskecskés-Dolga vas has been settled ceremonially on 22 March near the Hungarain-Slovenian border, at Tenke-hill.

The development with the value of more than 370 million HUF will be implemented as part of the Hungarian-Slovenian Iron Curtain Cycling (ICC) project, by the National Infrastructure Development Co.Ltd. The length of the planned new asphalt covered  cycling route is 1.9 km between Tenke-hill lying next to Rédics and the Slovenian Lendava-hill. The implementation will start in early April with the preparatory tasks – geodesic alignment, ammunition clearing, and wood cutting -, the works probably last for one year. The new road sections will be ready by spring 2019 – has been said in the event, where participated Mr. Levente Magyar, minister of state for parliamentary affairs at the Ministry of Foreign  Affairs and Trade, Mr. László Vigh member of  Parliament, Mr. Klemen Potisek, state secretary of Ministry of Infrastructure in Slovenia, dr. Attila Pál, president of the General Assembly of Zala County and Mr. Kornél Kondrik, chief financial officer of NID Co.Ltd.

Beside enlarging the Hungarian road network being appropriate for cycling, this cycling route also contributes to the improvement of the traffic along the border, since it connects two villages which haven’t had any connections for 100 years.

The ICC project – being implemented under the leadership of Zala County Government and including also the establishment of the cycling route – has the highest budget in the Interreg program and besides the fact that it is extremely important for the region, it means a new connection between the two nations.
