Cycling family day

A cycling family day has been held on 14 September with Páka as a central venue. The participants could join to cycling and hiking tours, sport and rush programme, health screenings and hear presentations on healthy lifestyle, road safety and cycling.

The cycling family day aimed at making the natural and cultural values of the Slovenian – Hungarian border region more popular. Páka and its surrounding offers excellent possibilities for the active and green tourism, the sights of the region can be ridden easily even by bike or hiking tours.

The bikers preferring the higher challenges could participate on a 80 km long cross-border tours, starting from Páka through Lenti to the Bakonaki lake, then crossing Lendva-hill to the Hadik Chapel, further on cycling by Tenke-hill and Lendvadedes arriving back to the starting point.

While the ones choosing the shorter tour (34 km) visited the buffalo reserve and water mill at Szécsisziget first after starting from Páka, then they went to the bunkers at Lovászi, finally thely got back to Páka through Máhomfa, Csömödér. On the sports field health screenings, a local handicrafts products fair, ethno playground, rushes and sport programme, cycling shows waited them.

The hikers could choose between a 5 km and a 34 km long tour. The ones chosen the shorter distance, visited the Öveges Memorial House, the church of Páka and the bunkers. The ones preferring the longer distance could get familiar with the forests of Zala, the flora and fauna along the valley of Lower-Válicka in the framework of the tour called ”Eco-touristic adventure along Válicka”.

Following the tours warm meals were served for the participants in Páka, while during the day presentations were held for promoting the healthy lifestyle, cycling and also on road safety.

In the spirit of the cooperation of Slovenia – Hungary and the joint action against the global environment problems we planted also trees near the fitness park lying at the sports field.
