Developing service packages for cycling tourism – 2nd workshop

The 2nd workshop of the project ”Iron Curtain Cycling” - being implemented with the leadership of Zala County Government - has been held in Lenti on 13 June, aiming at developing service packages for cycling tourism.

The event was opened by the presentation of Imre Pácsonyi, vice-president of the general assembly, in which he introduced some domestic and Austrian good practices for establishing rest points for cycling tourists. Then György Márton project expert summerized the results of the 1st workshop, highlighting the fact that valuable suggestions had been collected by the help of the participants. At the 2nd workshop the draft service packages had to be discussed with the stakeholders in order to be able to finalize them.

The five service packages elaborated on the basis of the ideas came up at the former meeting were introduced by Zoltán Pámer, representative of Logframe Ltd. and Mária Csikai, representative of Jóügy Ltd.. As a summary we can say that the routes generally involve several settlements and they reach also Slovenia. There is a tour which starts in Lenti and runs to the neighbouring villages and back like single centred tours, but we have one running along the Iron Curtain Cycling trail.

In the course of the discussion following the introduction of the draft packages the participants gave a number of further suggestions and remarks concerning the development of each routes. The experts will work out the final service packages by 30 June 2018 considering these suggestions and they will be included in the cycling tourism publication that is going to be issued in the framework of the project.

As a next step the project aims at developing joint packages with the partners from Vas County and Slovenia, to enlarge them to a regional level. Municipalities, enterprises and associations will also take part in promoting the offers developed as a result of our joint activity.
