Guide for cycling friendly services

Within the IronCurtain Cycling project we worked out a so called Professional guide for cycling friendly service providers, which publication aimes at the entrepreneurs intending to get familiar with the cycling tourist and make their stay more comfortable and attractive.

Did you know how much money spents a cycling tourist in average?

The reason of a several-days cycling tour is generally a demand for a semi-natural experience, sport and motion, cultural and last but not least car-free relaxation. Comparing with them the viewpoint of a cheap holiday is unimportant.

The ones who bravely held on in the seat of a bicycle, they generally desire a good dinner, a comfortable bed and some pampering (massage, spa) in the evening. They require the local products and service providers much more than in any other branches of tourism, since they can bring along only limited amount of equipments, thus it means a market for the producers of local, traditional products and the local service providers. Besides the cyclists devote their time to discover a region, they easily stop at an interesting place or make a detour for tasting something, therefore their „comsumption” is much higher.

According to the calculations of ECF (European Cyclist Federation) an European cycling tourist spends 25 EUR per day in average, while the one arriving by car, spends only 7.3 EUR.
