New tourist attractions has been established in Vas county, in the area of the Slovene Raba Region - Őrség

On 7 August an E-bicycle charging station was inaugurated at Apátistvánfalva, and a so called Border-stone Park was opened at Szalafő on the border. The investments have been implemented by the Self-Government Office of Vas County as a partner of Iron Curtain Cycling project being implemented in the framework of Interreg V-A Slovenia – Hungary Cooperation Program. The aim of the developments costing nearly 14 000 EUR in total is assuring new cultural, natural attractions and cycling services for the tourists visiting the region, which make it popular among the cycling tourists.

Border-stone Park exhibition area

The Border-stone Park open-air exhibition area can be found in the border-zone near Szalafő, at the border-stone No. A180. Its aim is making the history nearly „touchable” for the tourists visiting this place. The memorial place introduces the determinative historical era of the border region by information tables, columns, stones and a section of the original technical border- barrier, furthermore it offers visitor-friendly services (benches, fire-place, rain-shelter) for the tourists coming from both sides of the Slovene – Hungarian border. An additional peculiarity of the establishment is that it appeares as a „green historical” supply element at the Slovene-Hungarian border, providing a unique element to the tourism offer of the border-region.

E-bike charging station

In the framework of the Iron Curtain Cycling project also a new E-bike charging station has been opened in Apátistvánfalva. The aim of the investment that is established at the Eco-tourism Information Centre is providing an opportunity for the tourists coming here by there e-bikes to charge them before continuing there trips in the border region. The charging station is established in an  environment-friendly way fitting to the environment protection regulations of the neighbouring countries, as well.
