Ormož 9.10.2018 - Report on the workshop

As part of the IronCurtainCycling project the project partner ZRS Bistra Ptuj carried out a local workshop titled "Rider - Excellent Tourist", held on October 9, 2018 in Ormož. The aim of the workshop was to organize the networking and creating bicycle-friendly packages with services.

Initially we described the IronCurtainCycling project, its past results and the upcoming activities.

At the first part of the workshop the world trends in cycling, where the Drava Biking Trail in Austria, Slovenia and Croatia was exposed as an example of good practice were presented. The president of the Cycling Union of Slovenia presented the entire cycling network and networking with other cycling networks in Europe. The president of the Ptuj Bike Network talked about the challenges, potentials and opportunities for the development and increase of the number of cyclists in the home environment, as well as the great importance of connecting all service providers that the cyclists need on their tours. The initiator and founder of the Ormož biking network, from its perspective, described the beginnings to set up their emerging alliance.

A practical part of the workshop followed, where participants, along with experts, collected suggestions and ideas for the most attractive cycling tours that will attract domestic and foreign cyclists. A newly marked cycling route with cycling signs, which runs from Ormož through Jeruzalem to Ljutomer was also presented.
