Successfully completed the cycling tour-guide training

Participants in the training took part in eight theoretical and two practical training sessions in English, familiarizing themselves with the basics of tour management, cycling, the thematic routes developed in the project, and a number of knowledge related to tour organization, both in theory and practice.

The four months long training held for 15 Slovenian and Hungarian participants started on 6 October 2018. The tenth module took place in Lenti, Lendava, Murska Sobota, Szentgotthárd. The participants were given different tasks: to explore, get to know, to evaluate the cycling network of a settlement and its surroundings, to provide cycling related services, and then to prepare a bicycle-friendly service package. After that, the participants received „cycling tour guide training” certificate.

The aim of the training is to educate local cycling tour guides who are familiar with the sights, features and events of the countryside and the wider environment, which are directly or indirectly connected to the Iron Curtain, and are able to present it professionally. One of the important modules of the training is the transfer of visitor and heritage management knowledge, the introduction of methods to mitigate the environmental impact of tourism, thus reducing the ecological footprint.
