Tour-guide training – study tour to the iron curtain memorial places

The study-tour, visiting the iron curtain memorial places lying along the border of Slovenia-Hungary, has been held on 27 October 2018 in the framework of the training.

The first station of the future tour-guides was the Hetés Friendship Park that can be found at the border, where they visited the sculpture composition called ”Borderless bird” lying on the trace of the former Iron Curtain, which is made of its wires. In the course of the tour they took a look at the currently ruinous, former border-guards’ houses hiding in the forest at Bajánsenye. Then the most adventurous participants had an opportunity to climb up to the renovated guard tower near Hodos.

Later on they could get acquainted with the everyday life of the border-guards at the Border-guard Memorial Place of Apátistvánfalva. The exhibition introduces the border-guards’ life, starting from the realistically furnished dormitory, through the weapon room, till the stable belonging to the equestrian border-guards.

At the end of the study-tour the participants of the training visited the air-raid shelter in Lovászi, where the guide of the bunker introduced them the history of building, the use of certain rooms and the local stories concerning it.
