TourNatur 2019 Düsseldorf

Representing the project we participated on the TourNatur 2019 Fair in Düsseldorf, Germany. During three days the fair in Düsseldorf had 45 000 visitors.

This year’s TourNatur completely enchanted the lovers of cycling, hiking and the open-air recreation. In the course of it’s three days from Friday 6 September to Sunday 8 September more than 45 000 visitors came to the Hall 6, which like to spend their leasure time in the nature, to gain information from the 250 service providers in tourism, such as producers, sellers and the service providers of the tourist destinations from all over the world.

On our stand being in Hall 6 we introduced Iron Curtain Cycling project and our joint cycling route between two European countries, Slovenia and Hungary, where the Euro Velo 13 European cycling trail passes through, as well. More and more people prefers the long distance cycling tours where they would like to live the most possible curious experiences. The 10 400 km long Euro Velo 13 offers rich experiences on its trails running from the Barents Sea to the Black Sea. In the framework of the Iron Curtain Cycling project we expanded, sign posted and completed with further offers the section running along the border region of Slovenia and Hungary.

In parallel with the TourNatur Fair was held the Caravaning Fair, that is visited also by a great number of cyclists, since the tourists travelling by recreational vehicles (RV) are also bikers taking their bicycles along and taking shorter tours in the meantime. These attractive events attracted a number of enthusiastic bikers, which were looking for new European cycling adventures among others on the fair and planned their bicycle tours for the next year. We believe that we inspired the bikers by our introduction and they will visit the cycle trail running along the border of Slovenia and Hungary.

By our participation on the TourNatur Fair we promoted our cycle trail and raised its awareness. Germany is an important area considering the cycling tourism, from which we can expect bikers visiting the joint project area. Therefore we introduced this peaceful and relatively untouched corner of Slovenia and Hungary for the German and other European cyclists, and presented the results achieved within the project, furthermore the developments implemented on this section of Euro Velo 13 cycling trail.

Further plans:

In order to popularize the project and for reaching the widest possible circle of the target group we introduce the Iron Curtain Cycling Trail on the Fahrrad und Erlebniswandern Fair in Stuttgart in January 2020, as well.
