Workshop in Lenti about the service packages for cycling tourism

In the recent days a workshop has been held in the framework of Iron Curtain Cycling project – being implemented with the leadership of Zala County Government – with the topic developing service packages for cycling tourism in the region.

Leading officials of municipalities, representatives of tourist service providing companies and regional tourist organizations, local product manufacturers took part in the event, where Imre Pácsonyi, vice-president of the county government emphasised that tourism is a take-off for our border region, in which cycling represents a more significant ratio. In the project we reached a considerable phase, since now we have to connect those attractions which can be offered for the cycling tourists, or the other guests interested in cycling.

Then Veronika Kárpáti project manager explained that the main axis of the Hungarian project is joining to the EuroVelo European cycling trail. The aim is connecting the cycling tourism offer of the region and the involved service providers along the Iron Curtain trail running through this area, that is a part of the EuroVelo. In the framework of the professional presentations Zoltán Pámer (Logframe Kft.) spoke about the main elements of the cycling infrastructure and their development; András Bojcsev (Mecsekerdő Zrt.) spoke about the cycling tourism products and cycling-friendly services, while Mária Csikai cycling tourism expert spoke about their promotion.

Afterwards the participants created service-package ideas arranging them into thematic groups by the assistance of the experts. These will be worked out in details and further developed on the next workshop in June, then finalized.

Thus we will develop 5 regional service-packages for cycling tourism relating to the area of Zala and Vas counties bordering Slovenia.
